Swear Filter

I’ve been working on a project recently which required a swear filter to check postings submitted on a forum type website. Thanks to everyone who helped build the filter – we’ve managed to get together over 240 “crude” words – I admit, some I’ve never hear myself.

=========================== WARNING ===========================

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THE SWEAR LINK, OR DOWNLOAD THE SQL FILE if you are easily offended.

The text contains explicit words and phrases!! My particular favourite was “liverpool” that someone added! Unfortunately I cannot use that! ;-) I’ve made the list available in SQL format just in case anyone else it looking for a similar list. You have been warned – so please don’t go complaining!!!

Download the SQL file here: Swear filter SQL file

I have a children’s site and really needed a “bad word” list and couldn’t believe how difficult it is to find. thanks a million..what a comprehensive list you’ve compiled! I won’t ask about where your expertise comes from;-)

Is there an easy way to edit the SQL query to incorporate it into a current word censor list, like on PhpBB?

excellent, just what I was looking for, putting individual swear words into phpbb is endlessly time consuming so this is great. many thanks
