Microsoft Exchange (Office 365) SRV Record Won’t Verify at 123-REG

I spent days trying to get my domain name set up with Microsoft Exchange after purchasing the Business Office 365 package.

After following various guides on how to set up the DNS records, it just wasn’t working.

How to get Office 365 DNS Settings to verify your 123-REG SRV Record

In my case it was simple. When I added the domain name to the Office 365 Admin Center, I added it as “www.domain.com”

This meant that all the DNS settings which it was telling me to add were wrong. They all had “www” prefix.

After speaking with Microsoft, I was instructed to delete the domain and re-add it with out the www. After that, my 123-REG DNS settings were all accepted!

Simple really – but it stumped me. Hopefully this will help someone else 🙂
